River Safety
As temperatures go over 80 degrees Bend Park & Recreation would like to remind everyone about river safety. The Deschutes River has calm waters suitable for floating, but it also has points of danger. If you are floating through the Old Mill area you must exit river left before the Colorado Street Dam. Bright orange buoys will direct you to the take out point. Children under 12 are required to wear life jackets and it is recommended that all floaters wear life jackets. A Bend City ordinance prohibits alcohol possession or consumption on the Deschutes River.
