INCLUSION FACILITATOR

Bend Metro Park and Recreation District is accepting applications for part-time Inclusion Facilitator to provide one-on-one or small group support to program participants with special needs, enabling them to enjoy activities in which they would otherwise be unable to participate. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Partner with in-house assessment team to help participants have a safe and positive experience in their program of choice.  Partner with out of house assessment team (i.e. pediatrician, counselor, FAN advocate) to provide consistency and support for participant.
• Work with teachers on child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Communicate progress of workplans, IEP's and program inclusion with parents/guardians and gain their support with inclusion plans.
• Develop behavior plans for participants with behavior problems.
• Provide one-on-one or small group care to designated participants as needed.
• Work with staff to adapt general activities appropriately based on individual participant's needs.
• Assist with personal care (i.e. toileting, feeding, grooming) as needed.
• Reinforce positive attitudes and behaviors to participants with behavioral problems.
• Model and reinforce socially acceptable behaviors.
• Perform first aid as needed.

Starting hourly wage: $10.73 - $11.83, depending on experience.  Hours:  20 to 30 hours per week, work schedule varies.

Qualified candidates should possess the following:
• Bachelor's degree with emphasis in human development, special education, or related field; and two years working with and caring for people of varying ages and abilities providing personal care and/or managing behavioral problems, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described duties.
• Awareness of, sensitivity to, and desire to work with individuals with varying abilities and special needs.
• Knowledge of adaptive techniques and equipment needs of special and general recreation programs.
• Ability to perform personal care (i.e. toileting, feeding, grooming).
• Basic behavior management skills.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
• Use independent judgment and initiative; problem solve.
• High energy, positive attitude, and a great deal of patience.
• Physical ability to lift, restrain and run after children.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification; clean criminal background.
• Exceptional ability to work cooperatively with staff and the general public.
