Swim Instructor
Juniper Swim and Fitness Center is accepting applications for Swim Instructors to teach the JSFC and Red Cross learn-to-swim program, providing a safe, progressive and fun learning experience for participants.
Primary duties:
• Plan and instruct swim and water safety
programs in accordance with JSFC and Red Cross standards and
procedures.
• Provide for the progress, safety, comfort and
enjoyment of class participants.
• Evaluate participants and complete progress reports
and cards.
• Maintain required JSFC and Red Cross course
records.
• Communicate with lesson participants and parents
concerning specific lesson and related program information.
• Assist with registration and promotion of swim
programs.
• Participate in regular swim instructor in-service
trainings.
Starting hourly wage: $8.49- $9.36 depending on experience. These are part-time, year around positions, with pro-rated benefits when eligible.
Work Schedule: Weekday afternoon and Saturday mornings. Training classes to be held in mid-March.
Summer positions: Weekday morning and early afternoons. Training classes to be held in May.
Qualified candidates should possess the following:
• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Attend and complete Red Cross Water Safety
Instructor training; obtain certfication.
• Knowledge of current swim teaching methods,
practices and progressions.
• Ability to plan, organize and lead classes toward
determined goals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with and to
motivate people of all ages and abilities, particularly
children.
• Clean criminal background.
• Exceptional ability to work cooperatively with
staff and the general public.
