Youth Recreation Leader 1

Juniper Swim and Fitness Center is accepting applications for a part time Youth Recreation Leader to assist in the leadership and care of youth in the Kid's Corner and Busy Buddies Club programs.

Primary duties:

  • Provide care and oversee the safety of the children in child care.
  • Plan and lead developmentally appropriate crafts, games, and other recreational activities.
  • Participate in water activities
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and safety of child care room and equipment.
  • Recognize and report potential health and safety concerns, including implementation of Emergency Action Plan.
  • Communicate and cooperate with parents.
  • Calculate child care fees, provide receipts and maintain required records.

Starting hourly wage: $9.00 - $9.93, depending on experience.  This is a year-round part time position with pro-rated benefits when eligible.  

Schedule: Mondays and Tuesdays 9:15am - 4:00pm, Fridays 9:15a.m - 1:15pm and evenings as needed Monday thru Thursday from 4:00pm - 7:15pm. 

Qualified candidates should possess the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalency, or currently attending high school; and previous experience providing care for infants, toddlers, and children; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described duties.
  • Knowledge of developmental stages, basic needs, and safety precautions for children ages six weeks to six years.
  • Ability to care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers; to interact effectively with children; to create and lead developmentally appropriate activities for children; and to communicate cooperatively with parents.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, especially with respect to health and safety concerns.
  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification, or ability and willingness to obtain prior to employment.
  • Must have clean criminal background.
  • Exceptional ability to work cooperatively with staff and the general public.
