LIFEGUARD - Summer Positions
Juniper Swim and Fitness Center is accepting applications for Lifeguard, responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for JSFC guests by anticipating, recognizing and managing emergency situations as part of a professional team. Training begins May 2010 and work schedules begin late June 2010.
Primary duties:
• Anticipate and recognize potential
emergencies by maintaining the 10/20 Protection Rule.
• Manage emergencies according to Ellis and JSFC
protocols.
• Enforce facility and public health rules and
regulations.
• Provide information and assistance to facility
guests.
• Maintain Ellis and JSFC standards of
professionalism at all times.
• Maintain lifeguard and CPR skills at "test ready"
level at all times.
• Participate in lifeguard in-service training.
• Serve as locker room monitor.
• Assist with program needs and pool set up.
• Perform cleaning, equipment organization, and
maintenance tasks.
Starting hourly wage: $9.00 - $9.93 depending on experience. These are part-time positions.
Schedule: Variety of Shifts.
Qualified candidates should possess the following:
• Minimum 15 years of age.
• Current Ellis & Associates, Inc. NPWLTP Pool
Lifeguard/CPR License, or ability and willingness to complete
Juniper Swim and Fitness Center's lifeguard training class
prior to starting date. Potential license reimbursement
based on performance and length of employment.
• Basic swim skills including: front crawl stroke
and treading water.
• Ability to handle stressful working conditions and
emergencies, and to accept a high degree of accountability.
• Ability to communicate effectively with adults and
children.
• Clean criminal background.
• Exceptional ability to work cooperatively with
staff and the general public.
Supplemental Testing
Applicants extended an interview will also receive
a swim test that includes swimming 200 yards, retrieving a 10
pound weight from a depth of 12 feet, and tread water for two
(2) minutes without using hands.
