Youth Recreation Supervisor

Bend Metro Park and Recreation District is accepting applications for Youth Recreation Supervisors to help plan and lead our Friendly PEERSuasion Program.  This program is offered on Early Release Wednesdays from 1:15 - 3:15 at local middle schools with two additional hours of preparation time per week. The position begins November 29th & 30th with a mandatory two-day training.  Regular class sessions with participants will begin in January.
 
Duties include:
• Supervise volunteers; evaluate and set goals.
• Monitor and supervise activities and the safety of participants.
• Communicate on a regular basis with school staff, BMPRD staff and Commission on Children and Families staff.
• Interact with the youth through crafts, games, and other planned activities.
• Complete and submit paperwork in a timely manner.
• Plan and organize activities designed to be developmentally appropriate and build skills.
• Develop and maintain a positive attitude of cooperation with parents of participants.
• Oversee general upkeep and care of equipment, supplies, and facilities used.
• Purchase material and supplies.

Starting hourly wage: $10.83 - $11.94, depending on experience.  These are part time positions, with pro-rated benefits when eligible.

Qualified candidates should possess the following:
• Two years of college with emphasis in child development, recreation, or related field; and three years experience planning developmentally appropriate learning centers; and satisfactory training, expertise and experience in the specific program area or activity for which hired; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above describe duties.
• Considerable knowledge of childhood development and age appropriate crafts, games, and activities.
• Ability to plan and organize activities to enrich children's lives.
• High energy and positive attitude.
• Good oral and written communications skills.
• First Aid and CPR Certification, or ability to obtain certification prior to employment.
• Clean criminal background.
• Exceptional ability to work cooperatively with staff and the general public.
