Donate to the General Fund or Dedicate Your Gift
The Park & Recreation Foundation is dedicated to preserving Bend's livability and character by ensuring that your donations support our community's parks, trails and recreation program. Your gift to the General Fund will help the Foundation continue its work. You can also specify which fund (described below) you want your donation to support.

Types of Funds

Deschutes River Trail Fund
The community has long envisioned a fully connected trail system paralleling the Deschutes River. Once completed the Deschutes River Trail will extend all the way from Tumalo State Park to the southern boundaries of Bend. Along the way, the trail will connect to Bend's Urban Trail System and Deschutes National Forest trails. A donation to the Deschutes River Trail will make this vision a near-term reality. Another way to support the Deschutes River Trail is to participate in the River Trail Ramble, an annual fundraiser. Click here to go to learn more about the River Trail Ramble.

Recreation Scholarship Fund
When kids participate in well organized and developmentally appropriate recreation programs they gain much more than what meets the eye.  Yes, they have fun, learn new skills and make new friends. They also gain self confidence and self-determination, aw well as other skills and traits that can impact a person for life.  We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to participate in recreation programs, whether their interest is in pottery or soccer. The Scholarship Program provides qualifying, low income families the opportunity to participate in recreation programs whether that's a parenting class, enrichment program or sports activity.

Annual Recreation Scholarship Fund:   Help meet current needs.  As the foundation works to build an endowment fund that will support scholarship needs forever, current needs are growing. Your gift to this fund will make an immediate impact.

Opdycke Scholarship Fund:  This special fund is dedicated to helping people with special needs participate in the wide array of special recreation programs and services offered by the Bend Park & Recreation District.  A gift to the Opdycke Scholarship Fund will truly make the difference in the life of a person with special needs.

Recreation Scholarship Endowment Fund:  Endowment funds last forever in that the principal of the fund is invested and only the interest is annually distributed.  The larger the fund, the more is provided to support kids and families in need.  The goal of the Park and Recreation Foundation is to build this fund to a level that will completely meet the scholarship needs of the District.  Although this goal is long-term, it is doable.  Your gift to this fund will make a difference forever.

Luke Damon Youth Sports Endowment Fund:  When eleven year old Luke Damon suddenly died almost twenty years ago, his family and friends established a fund in his honor.  This fund, now the Luke Damon Youth Sports Endowment Fund is dedicated to helping other young sports enthusiasts realize their dreams.

Bend Senior Center
The Park & Recreation District owns, operates and manages the Bend Senior Center in partnership with the following agencies:  USCB- United Senior Center of Bend, COCC - Central Oregon Community College, COCOA - Central Oregon Council on Aging, the Deschutes Public Library as well other community partners.  Donations to the Bend Senior Center will help enhance and expand the health, education, social and recreational services to our community's older adults.

Park Bench Dedication Program ~ Supporting the Scholarship Program
Dedicating a park bench is a meaningful and lasting way to honor or celebrate an extraordinary person. Proceeds of park bench sales are dedicated to the Scholarship Fund making this program a unique way to honor two people with one gift. The cost for dedicating an existing bench is $1000. The cost of dedicating a bench in a new location is $1400. Whether the bench is new or existing, you may personalize the bench with a bronze casting with the inscription "Dedicated to  (name of person)" installed on the bench. For information on dedicating a park bench, call Jan at 389-7275 or email:  jan@bendparksandrec.org

Thank you for caring enough to make a difference.
