Fee: Current Fitness pass or drop-in fee

Masters swimmers are adults who come in all shapes, sizes, ages, talents, goals and skills. Some have lifetime swimming backgrounds, some have started recently in the adult programs, and some are even self-taught. All share a love of swimming and a dedication of fitness through swimming. We welcome fitness swimmers, competitors and triathletes.

Practice
Any Master swimmer can attend any of the weekly practices and find appropriate challenges with others. Swimmers of similar skill are sorted by speed and stamina into different lanes.

Competition
Although Masters swimming was first started for competition, racing is not required. Your fitness is the primary goal! The participants find that competing in swim meets, open water races, or triathlons provide an exciting challenge!

Coaches
Head Coach is JSFC Swim Fitness Coordinator Bob Bruce. Bob has coached swimming for more than 35 years with outstanding experience and achievement at all levels, is certified Level 5 (the highest level) by the American Swimming Coaches Association. Bob has served as a Head Coach of the U.S. Team at the 2002 & 2004 World Masters Championships and was honored as a 2003 USMS National Coach-of-the-Year.

Assisting Bob are…

  • Barb Harris, who has a strong coaching history and ASCA Level 3 certification, was a collegiate champion and is a superb Masters swimmer in her own right.
  • Kevin Sivertson, a teacher with a strong and varied background in aquatics and coaching, speedy swimming ability and a hyperkinetic deck presence.

COMA
The JSFC Masters program is affiliated and sometimes confused with Central Oregon Masters Aquatics (COMA), which is an organization that supports local adult swimming. COMA is a non-profit entity, run by volunteers, that sponsors a wide variety of local pool meets, open water swims, fitness activities and social events. It publishes a team newsletter (ComaMotion) and website www.comaswim.org for more information.
