A new district office and a community park are planned at 799 SW Colombia Street. The master plan for the park portion of the project includes improved river access, an extension of the river trail, riparian habitat restoration, large open lawn areas, picnic facilities, restrooms, and fully accessible walking trails. Parking to support river trail and park use will be provided on-site. In addition to its community park functions, Riverbend Park is designed to host special events and will include power, lighting and access drives to support this function.

The new district office will occupy the portion of the park site closest to Columbia Street. The 22,000 square foot building will provide offices for recreation services, district administration and planning and development. It will allow for more convenient customer registration. The new structure will also include a large community room and outdoor plaza that can be rented for events and meetings.

In keeping with one of the district's core values, the building has been designed to incorporate many environmentally friendly features including a green "living" roof, radiant heated and cooled floors, and solar hot water.

Expansion of recreation services is a primary function of this new facility.  Many BMPRD recreation programs are offered through part-time staff and through partnerships with other organizations. These programs need space for coordination, registration, training and administration. Provision of this new facility will allow the district to continue offering high quality programs to better serve district residents for many generations to come.
