Pine Nursery Park Site
Phase One Construction: May 2007 to May 2009
The site is located in NE Bend between Purcell, Deschutes
Market, and Yeoman Roads. The District plans on
developing approximately 159 acres at total build-out,
including Community Park facilities, a neighborhood park,
sports complex, natural areas, fitness trails, bike trails,
nature trails, support facilities, connections to surrounding
residential lands, and room for future expansion. The Bend
LaPine School District has begun construction of an elementary
school on 15 acres at the Northwest corner of the park.
Park construction began in May 2007 by building the irrigation
supply lines and pond for watering the future community park
facilities. The State Reclamation and Enhancement Board helped
by funding a matching grant to provide a fishing pond for Bend
anglers. The next phase of construction will include the
infrastructure required for park use - parking lots, fire
hydrants, access roads and pathways. Once the infrastructure is
complete, construction of the sports fields, restrooms and
shelter will begin. Phase 1 construction would include four
multi-purpose fields similar to Skyline Park:
• 4 Youth - Adult Softball Fields, 60-70 ft.
baseline, 325 ft. outfield fence.
• 4 Soccer Fields could be overlayed for
seasonal/tournament play.
• 200 Parking Spaces would provide the target of 50
spaces per field.
• Construct restroom for sports field and park
use.
• The Purcell Street access would be developed with
an access drive for the park and school.
• Provide forest management practices for the natural
area.
• Avion water would be extended to provide fire
protection and potable water for the facilities, and
supplemental irrigation. Canal water sources will be developed
and construction of a new pump house will provide
irrigation.
• Power will be tapped from existing lines and
brought underground to a central power service.
• Develop an irrigation pond for sprinklers and
initiate partnership with Oregon Fish & Game to develop an
urban fishery.
• Provide park space for passive recreation and
develop landscaping for windbreaks and buffers.
• Provide fencing and access for field maintenance
area.
• Develop trail through natural park areas.
• Develop unpaved bike/pedestrian loop and
connections to existing roads.
• Develop dog stations, trash receptacle, drinking
fountains, bike parking, signs and general park furnishings
proportional to development.
