Old Fashioned July 4th Festival

 

 

Celebrate Independence Day in Bend and wish America Happy Birthday with a day filled with old fashioned fun, food and festivities brought to you by Bend Parks & Recreation.  Begin your celebration at 8:00 am in Drake Park with the annual Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast.  Then move on to downtown Bend for the ever popular Bend Pet Express Pet Parade. Line up at Bend’s City Hall parking lot with your dog, llama, wagon, bicycle or stuffed animal by 9:30 and be ready to walk the 1.5 mile parade route at 10:00 am.  After the Pet Parade, come back to Drake Park between 11am-4pm to enjoy live music, local artisans and lots of delicious food presented by 2105 festival sponsor Zolo Media.  And – don’t forget to cruise through the expanded Kids & Family area brought to you by the Law Offices of Warren John West where kids of all ages will be entertained with FREE old fashioned fun and games.Festival is held in beautiful Drake Park as much of a tradition as July 4th itself!

 


Looking back at the 2014 Old Fashioned July 4th Festival

The 2014 Old Fashioned July 4th Festival provided a full day of fun in Drake Park. Patrons enjoyed a variety of Old-Fashioned Games sponsored by Bend Kiwanis and Alpine Physical Therapy. Located by the footbridge, games included such classics as the three-legged race, sack race and water melon eating contest.

Children of all ages enjoy the Kids & Family Fun Area sponsored by the Law Offices of Warren John West. Free activities include the popular the Flush-a-Duck or Flying Fish Fling games as well as many booths or activities offered by various community agencies. And don't miss your chance to join with Smokey Bear as he celebrates his 70th birthday.

At the Main Stage area, music was hosted by Sabrina Sloan from 99/7 The Bull and will include a variety of local favorites including Lakoda, !Chiringa! and the Junk Yard Lords. Visitors will also entertained by instructors and students of Bend Parks & Rec’s Zumba and classes. And - 2014 Fetival attendee helped the US Forest Service's Smokey Bear Celebrate his 70th birthday!

4th-flower-booth-300px.jpgMore than 130 artisans, crafters, community agencies and food vendors are excited to show you their wares or serve you. Festival goers will also be treated by a visit from Air Link medical helicopter at Harmon Park.
