Volunteers for Special Events paradevol.jpg

Join the Fun! Volunteering at one of our Community Events is a great way to get involved. Individual and group volunteers are an essential part of making these events a success.

Tree Planting Event - Oregon Arbor Week (April)
Tree planting event for children, families and youth groups. Volunteers plant Ponderosa Pine seedlings and have fun digging in the dirt! Volunteers also assist staff with offering a brief interpretive program and supervising tree planting.

Hershey Track Meet (May)
Track event for area youth. Volunteers assist race officials with set-up, timing, score keeping, and field events.

River Trail Ramble (June)
Trail run/walk fundraising event for the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District Foundation. Volunteers assist with set-up, aid stations, timing and take down for the event.

July 4th Pet Parade
Volunteers provide information and traffic control at roadblocks along the parade route, and hand out balloons, ribbons and popsicles to parade participants. In the park, volunteers help with kid's games, bicycle parking and some even help by kayaking to retrieve plastic fish from our "fish fling"!

Pumpkin Festival (October)
This is a fun one day event for young children and their families held at Tillicum Park, west of Bend. Volunteers help with set-up and decorating, ticket sales, carnival booths, "spooky barn" and many fun games and activities.
