Larkspur Trail – Pilot Butte Gap

Larkspur Trail Improvements – Pilot Butte Gap

Overview:

The District is looking to improve the Pilot Butte Gap section of the Larkspur Trail. This segment of the current trail lacks definition and creates uncertainty for pedestrians and cyclists seeking to continue through the Pilot Butte State Park along the trail.

The new section of trail would connect with the existing trail south of the existing parking lot, run along the eastern edge of the park’s property and reconnect with the existing trail north of the parking lot beyond the park host area.

The trail improvements would provide a direct through route alternative to the current sidewalk at the base of the butte for pedestrian and cycling traffic and also help to reduce conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.  A raised crosswalk design across Linnea Dr. will help to calm vehicular traffic and provide a seamless trail section across the road.
