Picnic Areas & Shelters

Picnic Areas & Shelters for a Private Celebration

Bend Park and Recreation District has a variety of picnic shelters and uncovered picnic areas for your rental or your private gathering or celebrations. They are great for kid’s birthday parties, family reunions, company picnics, wedding receptions, memorial services and other gatherings or celebrations.

Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance. (Riverbend picnic shelter can only be made 3 months in advance.) Note: Picnic areas and shelters are not available for private reservations when community events are scheduled in a park. Follow the instructions at How to Make a Reservation to check availability or request a reservation.

Fees:
Number of Attendees        Groups of 4 -10         Groups of 11-30       Groups of 31-74      Groups over 75
Private Gathering                            $40                            $60                              $88                          $132
Commercial Gathering                    $50                            $75                             $110                         $165

Insurance & Deposit:  Private gatherings held at shelters or picnic sites who have 41 or more attendees and who are consuming alcohol must provide a certificate of insurance showing $2 million general liability insurance per occurrence with an additional rider that states alcohol will be consumed at the event and must obtain an alcohol permit (issued by BPRD on behalf of the City of Bend Police) prior to the event. If there is no alcohol, no insurance is required. Also for all groups of 41, BPRD requires a refundable $250 damage deposit paid within 30 days of the rental use. Providing there is no damage to the park the deposit will be returned in full within 10 business days.

Alcohol permits: Alcohol is only allowed on District property by permit. Permits are available at no cost at the District office. The reason we issue permits is to help us manage behaviors in parks. There are three kinds of permits: a) individual, b) small group – groups of 40 or fewer people (please note: permits are not issued for use on athletic fields during scheduled BPRD programs); c) Large group – groups of 41. Large group use of a park when alcohol is going to be consumed requires a reservation and evidence of liability insurance and damage deposit. The District Office is located at 799 SW Colmbia St. or call us at (541) 389-7275 for more information. District Office is open Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
