voljuly.jpgBend Park & Recreation District offers recreation and enrichment programs for people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers enrich these programs and truly make a difference as coaches, mentors, role models and friends.

Volunteer with Kids

If you love working with kids – we need you!

Youth Sports – Help with soccer, flag & tackle football, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, softball, tennis and more. Training is provided. Commitment varies by sport. Many volunteers are needed each season.
After School Recreation Programs – Connect with a group of kids to help with games, crafts and activities or help with a special theme program.
Child care – Volunteers assist in the childcare and with preschool programs.
Outdoor Programs – Share your love of the outdoors by coaching cross country skiing, archery and adventure programs.
Summer Programs – Help with games, crafts and adventures in BPRD summer programs for children such as Cougar Camp, MAGIC in the Parks and Endless Summer Camp.
Therapeutic Recreation – Assist school age children with disabilities at a variety of summer camps and after school programs.

Help People with Disabilities

Connect with some fabulous people and help make it possible for someone to enjoy participating in a program.
Adult Therapeutic Recreation – Assist staff and serve as a mentor, encourager and friend to participants. Programs include fitness, crafts, cooking, adventures out and about in the community and even some fun dances!
Youth Therapeutic Recreation – Help special kids with crafts, activities and field trips in school year recreation programs and summer camps.
Adaptive Aquatics – Assist school age children with disabilities in the pool with their individual swimming goals. Trainings and staff support is provided.
Adaptive Skiing –Experienced downhill skiers can help people with disabilities enjoy a fabulous day on the mountain. Program offered Sundays at local ski areas. Training is provided.

Share Your Love for the Outdoors

Help other people enjoy the outdoor activities you love!
Adult Outdoor Recreation – Assist with hiking, show shoeing and cross country ski programs.
Adaptive Skiing –Experienced downhill skiers can help people with disabilities enjoy a fabulous day on the mountain. Program offered Sundays at local ski areas. Training is provided.
Bend Kids Ski League – Help young children and their families learn to the basics of cross country skiing. This is a fun, non-competitive recreational program that includes lots of play time on the snow.

Is Fitness or Swimming Your Thing?

Whether you want to share your passion for fitness by lending a hand, further your own skills and experience or connect with some fabulous people – we need you!
Volunteers help with aquatics programs at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center and with fitness programs for people of all ages at JSFC and the Bend Senior Center.
Weight Room Assistant – Assist facility users with equipment set up and keep the facility running smoothly.
Fitness Class Aid – Help the instructor with keeping the class flowing smoothly, including helping with equipment, orienting new participants and assisting with clean up after the class.
Fitness Class Assistant – Includes the responsibilities of a Fitness Class Aid, plus the goal of progressing to help with teaching the class. May include volunteers who need practice hours for educational programs.
Therapeutic Recreation Volunteer – Help with fitness programs designed for adult and children with disabilities and special needs.
Fit Kids Volunteer – Assist with a fun fitness and healthy lifestyle program for children ages 3 to 11. Volunteers help with class flow and snacks and serve as a role model, mentor & friend.
Adaptive Aquatics Volunteer – Assist in the pool by helping elementary and middle school age students with disabilities in reaching their swimming goals. Training and staff support is provided.
Junior Lifeguard & Swim Instructor Aid – Summer programs for teens that incorporate volunteering with training and job skills. For volunteers age 12 to 15.

Volunteer at the Bend Senior Center

Here are a few of the things you can do:
• Greet visitors and give tours
• Assist with office tasks
• Help in fitness programs
• Share your skills in the computer lab
• Lend your talent and energy to special events and programs
