Bend Unified Recreational Soccer League Registration Now through June 5

It’s still spring, but youth fall soccer season is around the corner and now’s the time to sign up. The deadline to register for the 2016 Bend Unified Recreational Soccer League (BURSL) fall season is Sunday, June 5. Jointly run by the Bend Park and Recreation District and the Bend FC Timbers, the program is open to all boys and girls in Central Oregon entering first through eighth grade in the 2016-17 school year.
Last year, a record number of 1,780 kids played on 131 teams. “As of now, we have over 750 kids registered for this season,” said Rich Ekman, BPRD Sports Coordinator. “We’re anticipating high registration numbers again this year, so we’re encouraging parents to sign up now to ensure their child gets on a team.”
Teams are coached by trained volunteer coaches. Based by school and divided by grade, teams practice twice-a-week and play games on Saturdays. The league runs August 22 through October 29. Instruction, number of players on teams and game field sizes are age-appropriate and grow incrementally. All players receive their own uniform including jersey, shorts and socks.
