Patrons asked to avoid parks and trails during high wind conditions

April 7, 2017

During high wind conditions, the Bend Park and Recreation District urges community members to avoid parks and trails where trees may create hazards. Today, April 7, we have trees down at Drake, Pioneer and Shevlin parks as well as others. These parks and others with trees should be avoided until weather conditions change.

The District’s Natural Resources crew is establishing perimeters with caution tape around known downed trees; however, other trees and large limbs may be affected by the winds forecast throughout the day.

The current conditions create a safety hazard for employees and patrons, so please avoid the areas. District employees will begin to assess damage and clean up the affected parks and trails as soon as possible following the current wind storm.
