Weekly Fitness Classes at the Bend Senior Center
Get moving and feel great with more than fifty fitness classes at the Bend Senior Center. With classes throughout the day and a variety of activities to choose from, there’s something for everyone.
Classes are available for both 50-plus and 18-plus. Classes are open to 18-plus before 8:30 am, after 4:00 pm and all day on Saturdays.

Cardio Dance Fusion
This class is set to all genres of music. There are various formats of dance fitness. You don’t have to be a dancer to come and have fun!
Mondays, 8:45 – 9:45 am
A beautiful total-body class incorporating cardio movement to music from Jazz, Modern Dance, Yoga, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do and more.
Wednesdays, 8:30 – 9:30 am
Bliss Dance Workout
A lively, engaging workout fusing various genres in one class! Groove to hip hop, jazz,Latin, modern, lyrical, Middle Eastern and more.
Tuesdays, 5:35 – 6:35 pm
Light and low impact cardio and core conditioning integrating use of exercise balls, chairs and light weights. Bring your own exercise ball.

Well-rounded workout that combines muscle strengthening, flexibility and balance exercises aimed to enhance muscle and bone strength, balance, joint range of motion, mobility and benefits independent living skills.

This fast and fun paced class is designed for active adults focusing on exercises for agility, strength and balance. Using weights, bands, balls, mats and your own body weight for a great workout..

Orientation / Weight Training
These sessions are designed to give you the basic skills to use the new cardio and strength equipment safely and effectively.

Restorative Yoga Flow
This yoga stretch class focuses on gently stretching your muscles using correct alignment and poses.
Fridays, 8:45 – 9:45 am
Strength, Conditioning & Functional Fitness:
Graceful head-to-toe strength and toning that follows elements of ballet and fundamentals of Pilates. Improves balance and posture.
Mondays/Thursdays, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
This class combines ballet conditioning, Pilates, and Yoga to help strengthen, lengthen and tone your muscles. Class focuses on alignment and core strength. Improves balance, coordination, and posture.
Fridays 10:00-10:50 am
Barre Stretch & Strength
Slower-paced fitness style class incorporating yoga/Pilates poses adapted for greater ease and comfort of the joints. Bands, barre, balls, mats and light hand weights may be used as we strengthen and stretch.
Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 pm
Personalized Circuit Training
Trainer/Instructor will assist you in individualizing exercises to fit your goals and restrictions to safely and effectively progress. Circuit will include warmup, exercises for strength, flexibility, balance and cool down. Feel good and get fit with lots of individual attention. Instructor has more than 15 years experience working with people with chronic conditions and post rehabilitation exercise.

Strength Tone & Mightier Bone
Join us for a new class that addresses building bone mass to help prevent osteoporosis. Participants will be guided through exercises to strengthen the core and back muscles, restore posture, enhance balance and practice good body mechanics with functional activities. The class will work with free hand weights and resistance bands. A plus for participants is that they will gain confidence and a sense of independence in applying these principles to their everyday activities.

Stretch & Strength
Start your day out right with proper techniques of strength training and stretching. Using a variety of equipment such as bands, weighted balls, weights and body weight. Sustained stretching will be woven throughout the class.

Strength & Conditioning
This class is designed to increase muscular strength while improving cardiovascular health. Class will help improve posture, range of motion, flexibility, balance, agility and eye and hand coordination.
Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays, 9:00 – 10:00 am
Use light weights, resistance bands and stability balls to strengthen all the major muscle groups in this total body conditioning class. Balance, core strength and flexibility are emphasized, with special attention given to proper form. Modifications can be given to accommodate any injuries or limitations.

This is an introductory and progressive series of group exercise classes that will prepare you to attend our regular weekly classes. Formats include cardio dance, cardio ball, Zumba gold, functional fitness and more.

Moving to Music – An Arthritis Exercise Program
Ages: 50 & up
Join us for a lively, fun chair exercise with an upbeat medley of varied music. Physical activity is the arthritis pain reliever! This evidence-based program works to keep people with arthritis and other chronic conditions moving more freely and without pain. The program also includes strength and balance segments. Take control – and build a better you. Led by an arthritis instructor.

Tai Chi & Qigong:
8 Movement Tai Chi
This gentle class uses slow, circular movements to exercise all the muscles of the body and improve range of motion of the joints. Tai Chi relies not on external physical strength, but rather internal awareness to generate a feeling of overall health and vitality. Class format is designed to meet the needs of students with joint considerations.

24 Movement Tai Chi
For those wishing to further their practice of Tai Chi, learn a portion of the 24 Movement Yang Style Tai Chi. Improve your balance, quality of movement, health, vitality and well-being.

Want better health, increased vitality? Qigong is an ancient Chinese exercise that increases and stimulates energy in the body. The eight movements of this qigong are repeated slowly making it easy learn and practice. Come find out why this is so popular in China!

Yoga & Pilates:
Exploration of different styles of yoga. Each week we will focus on a specific type of yoga be it vinyasa flow, yin, restorative, relaxation, heart centered or therapeutics as well as use of proper alignment. All levels of experience welcome.
Tuesday/Thursdays, 10:15 – 11:15 am
This class will be focused on mindful, fluid movement guided by breath. Includes longer held stretches to release tension. Class is designed for beginner and intermediate levels. Yoga mats and a blanket are recommended and not provided.
Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 pm
Increase energy, flexibility, strength and stamina while toning and conditioning. Reduces stress and relaxes muscles. For beginner and intermediate levels.
Mondays/Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 pm
Practice is done seated in chairs or on a mat; using modifications for each pose. Emphasis is placed on breathing and relaxation.
Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:30-12:30 am
Make the most of your “indoor” workouts. Pilates focuses on functional movements and on using the “powerhouse” of abdominal muscles, obliques and the body’s joint stabilizers effectively for healthy movement. Gain strength, flexibility and balance. Class is designed for beginner and intermediate levels, all ages of adulthood.
Mondays 4:00-5:00 pm
A Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance moves. Fun and easy to follow, this class is for dancers as well as non-dancers!
Wednesdays, 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Zumba Gold targets the largest growing segment of the population: baby boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant as well as those just starting their journey to a fit, healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness Party is known for: zesty Latin music, easy-to-follow moves and an invigorating, party-like atmosphere.
