Volunteers Make Fun Happen!

Share your time and talents and be part of the team that provides exceptional park & recreation services for the Bend community.

Here’s where you can get involved!

Coach Youth Sports

Volunteer coaches are an essential part of Bend Park & Recreation District youth sports programs. Several hundred adult volunteers are needed each year to support these programs.

Recreation Programs

Adult and teen volunteers can join in to help create great experiences in a wide variety of programs for people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers are mentors and extra hands supporting participants, staff and activities.

  • Youth Recreation & Enrichment – including science, art, crafts, nature, cooking, theater, day camps, outdoor adventures and more. Programs are offered after school, on no-school days and during summer vacation and holidays.
  • Therapeutic Recreation – opportunities include helping with day camps, fitness, cooking, art and social programs for children and adults with disabilities.
  • Outdoor Programs – support outdoor adventures for adults including hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
  • Fitness and Water Exercise – assist in the weight room or with a wide variety of fitness classes. Programs are offered at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center and at Bend Senior Center.
  • Adaptive Aquatics – be a buddy in the pool for school age children with disabilities. Volunteers work with JSFC aquatics staff to reinforce swim skills and water safety.
  • Senior Center Programs – help with programs at Bend Senior Center including fitness classes, Tuesday lunches, dances and special events.
  • Ice Skating – on the ice support to participants with learn to skate programs.

Teen Volunteers

Teens volunteers – we need you! BPRD offers volunteer experiences for teens age 12 and over with recreation fitness & swimming programs and community events. Great way to gain experience, get involved and have some fun!

Events & Activities

  • July 4th Pet Parade & Old-Fashioned Festival (Downtown & Drake Park – July 4th)
  • Senior Center dances, neighborhood park activities, health fairs, holiday bazaars and more!
  • Special activities at The Pavilion and Juniper Swim & Fitness Center.

Important information about volunteering with BPRD:

  • BPRD processes a criminal history background check annually for volunteers age 18 and over.
  • Age requirement for volunteers varies by opportunity. Volunteers under age 12 may volunteer for some activities and events if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Volunteers assisting with adult outdoor recreation programs such as hiking may be asked to complete a driving background check form, drug test, and van training session with our staff, prior to volunteering.
