Facility Changes

Face Coverings
According to Oregon Health Authority guidance, vaccinated individuals may choose to verify their vaccination status upon entry to proceed with activities without masks. If not vaccinated or don’t have proof of vaccination, you must wear mask while indoors, including during exercise.

The face coverings must cover the mouth and nose and must be worn at all times in all indoor spaces, including indoor pools – except when swimming or for visitors 5 years and younger.

  • If a medical condition or disability prevents a person from wearing a face covering, let our staff know to consider an accommodation.
  • Clear face shields are strongly recommended for water exercise classes.
  • Please bring your own mask. A limited supply of disposable masks are available if you forget.

Outdoor Fitness and Swim Activities:
Masks are not required outdoors for the Outdoor Activity Pool, 50-meter pool and deck area. If accessing indoor areas or amenities, show vaccination verification (card or phone photo) to staff if you wish to remove mask while using indoor amenities. If not, wear mask while indoors at JSFC.

Face Covering Non-Compliance and Exclusions
Both your mouth and nose must be covered at all times except during swimming or water exercise (face shields are recommended during water exercise). If there is non-compliance, staff will provide a reminder, a warning and then exclusion for the day without a refund. This is for everyone’s health and safety. Thank you for wearing your face covering properly.

WiFi Use

Pool Etiquette

Play your part and help keep pools clean & safe.

In addition to etiquette guidelines, COVID-19 health guidelines and regulations apply.

  • Take a quick shower prior to entering a pool.
Rinsing removes microscopic dirt, body oils and fluids, reducing the smell of chlorine on your body and around the pool.
  • Skip the body sprays, colognes and perfumes.
Scented items react with chlorine and create smelly chloramine off-gasses, not the intended scent.
  • Mom was right. Try to go, even if you don’t think you need it.
A preventative restroom break is best for kiddos and grownups. For small kids, use pool diapers for those who aren’t reliably toilet-trained. They're at the front desk.
  • Don't share the germs.
Please don't use the pool if you or your child have had a fever or diarrhea in the past two weeks.
  • Aim for the deep end.
No diving, except in the deep ends of the pools.
  • No monkey business.
No running, roughhousing or unsafe behavior.

Supervision Requirements

  • Outdoor Water Slide:
Children 6 years and younger and under 42" must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible person 14 years or older.
  • Children 6 years and younger and under 42":
Must be supervised at all times by a responsible person 14 years or older.
Must be accompanied in the water by an adult if they are a non-swimmer.
  • Youth 7 years and older or above 42:
Direct adult supervision is recommended especially for non-swimmers.
Non-swimmers must stay where they can stand unless accompanied by a responsible adult or wearing a lifejacket.
  • Small Children’s Pool:
The Small Children's Pool is reserved for children six and under and others who are unsafe in the larger pools. Older sibling/friends are permitted when there is room and only if playing appropriately. Adult supervision is required for all children swimming in the children’s pool. Help us keep this a safe and enjoyable pool for young children!

Water Features:

  • Deep Water Swim Requirements –Children must be able to comfortably swim one width of the pool (half on front, rolling over and half on back) to swim in the deep end or use the diving boards or rope swing. Lifeguards may require that you demonstrate your swim skills before using the deep end features. Lifejackets and/or catching and assisting children are not allowed.
  • Hot Tub –Children ages 5 and younger are not allowed in the hot tub. Youth ages 6 – 15 are allowed in the hot tub during family swim times when accompanied by an adult guardian. During recreation swim times, the hot tub is limited to 16 and older.
  • Steam Room & Dry Sauna – reserved for adults 16 and over. Not currently available.

Flotation Devices & Water Toys

Due to COVID-19 health guidelines, no outside or shared equipment allowed except for lifejackets and PFDs.

  • Lifejackets are encouraged for non-swimmers, which we provide for use. People wearing lifejackets may not use the diving boards, rope swing or large slide.
  • Water wings and assisted flotation devices are permitted but may not be used as a substitute for supervision, lifejackets or swimming ability. Non-swimmers using water wings or partial flotation devices will be required to have an adult with them in the water at all times.
  • Outside toys are not allowed at this time.

Class Etiquette

In addition to etiquette guidelines, COVID-19 health guidelines and regulations apply.

In group exercise, like all social settings, common courtesy calls for sensitivity to others. Please follow these etiquette guidelines when participating in group exercise classes.

  • Enter on time or a bit early. The warm up is a key component of class and we don’t want you to miss out on it!
  • Avoid wearing heavy scents and perfumes.
  • Shower and launder clothing before class.
  • No chewing gum.
  • Place cell phones and beepers in the off position.
  • Avoid smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol before class.
  • Keep class conversation to a minimum – this demonstration of respect to your instructor and fellow classmates provides an opportunity for all to hear the instructor’s direction and flow through the workout.
  • Be courteous to your fellow classmates.
  • Be ready to adjust your space for others.
  • Be sure that your, um, private parts are appropriately covered.

Check with your physician before beginning any exercise program. If you have any medical considerations (recent surgeries, knee, neck or back problems, etc.), be sure to inform your teacher beforehand. Please note that instructors may use both physical assists as well as verbal cues to help students attain proper form, alignment and position. Please notify the instructor before class begins if you do not want to be touched. You are encouraged to bring and drink water throughout your workout. Thank you for attending and enjoy your workout!
