Note: Youth Softball League is discontinued. Bend Park & Recreation District will not offer its girls softball program, beginning in spring 2026 after declining participation. Our passion is to provide recreational and introductory skills building and teamwork through team sports, and there are other local softball
opportunities with Little League including Bend North and Bend South teams for girls age 5-14.

Bitty Ball – Boys & Girls, Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2
Season Dates: November – December
This developmentally appropriate program is designed for the player too young to participate in our traditional leagues. Focus is on developing skills, maximum participation, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun. Teams will be created from the pool of registered participants. Program will occur on Saturdays. Volunteer coaches are utilized.

Youth Basketball – Boys & Girls, Grades 3 – 5
Season Dates: Skills & drills program available January – February
This program emphasizes skill development, maximum participation, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun. Program will occur on Saturdays. Volunteer coaches are utilized.

Middle School Basketball – Boys & Girls, Grades 6 – 8
Season Dates:
Boys: Skills & drills programs available November – December
Girls: January – March
This is a joint program of the Bend-LaPine School District and the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District.  The program emphasizes skill development, maximum participation, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun.  Teams will be created from the pool of registered participants.  Practices and games will occur during the week.  Volunteer coaches are utilized.

High School Basketball – Freshman/Sophomore Division & Junior/Senior Division
Season Dates: January – March
Open to anyone who is not playing on a high school basketball team. Teams will be created from the pool of registered participants, with players serving as team captains. Games will be played on Sundays.

Youth Flag Football – Boys & Girls, Grades 1 – 6
Season Dates: September – November
This program will stress the fun and excitement of flag football. Flag football promotes physical fitness and teaches youngsters valuable lessons about teamwork and fair play.  Kids will learn basic football fundamentals, gameplay, and good sportsmanship.  Teams will be created from the pool of registered participants.  Practices will occur during the week and games will be played on Sundays. Volunteer coaches are utilized.

Tackle football update, spring 2023 –
BPRD will not offer its tackle football league program in fall 2023.

The BPRD flag football program is another great option to learn fundamentals and gain teamwork experience.

Youth Golf Lessons – Boys & Girls, Ages 8 – 14
Introduce your child to this lifelong sport. Emphasis is on basic fundamentals including grip, posture, ball position, alignment, and swing mechanics. Golf etiquette will also be covered.  Maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1. Bring your own clubs or we have a limited number of golf sets to loan.

This program offers progressive classes designed to increase your recreational skating experience and develop the basic skills that are fundamental to figure skating. We offer small classes with age and skill appropriate groupings.

Youth Learn to Play Hockey – Boys & Girls, Ages 4 – 15
Season Dates: November – March
Our “Learn to Play” program is designed to introduce players with no or very little experience (zero to one year) playing hockey to the sport of ice hockey. It’s designed to develop the fundamentals of the game, promote fitness and above all else have fun. This program is broken down to two skill-based levels.

Youth Hockey League – Boys & Girls, Ages 7 – 15

Let’s play hockey! We’re talking hockey skill development and game action for both boys and girls. Prior skating and/or hockey experience is required before registering for this league.

Join our USPTA trained staff for a summer of tennis fun.  Our professionally-trained staff will teach you the basics of the game as well as help you improve your game. We offer a variety of sessions to choose from. USA Tennis I sessions focus on basic playing skills and court positioning. USA Tennis II sessions focus on continued skill development coupled with actual match experiences.

Tournament Training – Boys & Girls, Ages 10 – 17
Join our energetic USPTA staff to help improve your game. Through advanced drills, strategies, conditioning, and match play, they will get you tournament tough.
