Lap Swim Etiquette

Sharing lanes and circle swimming counterclockwise is expected. Lanes are designated by speed so choose a lane appropriate to your speed. Water running is available in the slow lanes during all lap swim times. Minimum number of lanes listed.

  • For Juniper, designated lap swim lanes are available throughout the day in either the indoor pool or Olympic – 50 Meter pool (seasonally covered). Other activities may use the deep end at times. Lanes in the shallow end of the pool are available during these times.
  • At Larkspur, specific lap swim times are offered during the day, so check schedules for availability.

How to circle swim:

  • Circle swimming is similar to driving a car – you swim on the lane’s right side and give enough room for the swimmer ahead of you.
  • If the swimmer behind you catches up to you and taps on your feet, it’s best to wait at the wall to allow them to pass.
  • Alternatively, if they do pass in the middle of a lap, just proceed with what you are doing.
  • If they are trying to pass during a turn, stay to the side until they pass.
  • Please choose the correct lane based on speed. The lanes are marked slow, medium and fast.

Pool Etiquette

Play your part and help keep pools clean & safe.

  • Take a quick shower prior to entering a pool.
Rinsing removes microscopic dirt, body oils and fluids, reducing the smell of chlorine on your body and around the pool.
  • Skip the body sprays, colognes and perfumes.
Scented items react with chlorine and create smelly chloramine off-gasses, not the intended scent.
  • Mom was right. Try to go, even if you don’t think you need it.
A preventative restroom break is best for kiddos and grownups. For small kids, use pool diapers for those who aren’t reliably toilet-trained. They're at the front desk.
  • Don't share the germs.
Please don't use the pool if you or your child have had a fever or diarrhea in the past two weeks.
  • Aim for the deep end.
No diving, except in the deep ends of the pools.
  • No monkey business.
No running, roughhousing or unsafe behavior.

Supervision Requirements

  • Outdoor Water Slide:
Children 6 years and younger and under 42 inches must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible person 14 years or older.

Help us keep this a safe and enjoyable pool for young children!
