In addition to modified indoor spaces, 3 outdoor fitness class areas have been added to the facility to expand offerings while maintaining proper distancing.

New Cleaning Procedures

Above and beyond Juniper’s regular cleaning standards, new cleaning procedures include:

  • Juniper has been deep cleaned and disinfected during the facility closure. A thorough cleaning will be completed nightly.
  • The facility will be closed for one hour on longer days to complete a mid-day cleaning.
  • Restrooms will be cleaned at least twice daily and staff will disinfect high touch points throughout the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will JSFC re-open?

JSFC will re-open on Monday, June 8, for “dry side” fitness offerings.  Due to the Governor’s Office and Oregon Health Authority limitations and to ensure a safe environment, all use requires an advanced reservation/registration.

What will be available?

The fitness center, FIT studio, group exercise rooms and outdoor exercise spaces will be open.  A modified schedule of many popular group exercise classes will be provided. The pools, hot tub, sauna, steam room and showers will remain closed due to the Governor’s Office and Oregon Health Authority restrictions.

When will the pools re-open?

We are awaiting official guidance and do not know at this time. Pool re-opening is dependent on approval from the Governor’s Office and Oregon Health Authority.  It is unlikely that this will occur until Phase 2 re-opening or later. Continued patience is much appreciated. We’re excited to reopen pools as soon as we’re able to do so safely.

How do I reserve/register for a class or session?

Registration will be available seven days in advance on a rolling basis, and remain open until 15 minutes before the class or session start time for available openings. Fitness center sessions will be available in 80-minute increments throughout the day with a 10-minute cleaning/preparation transition time. Group exercise class schedules will be listed for individual class registration. To register, go to register.bendparksandrec.org.

We can’t emphasize this enough – there will not be drop-in use at this time. You must schedule all your visits to classes or work out on your own in advance.

What about my facility pass?

Passes (monthly, quarterly, annual and 10-visit) will not be valid during the initial reopening period due to the need to limit capacity. We also know we cannot provide the full value of passes due to limitations in facilities, hours and classes.

All facility passes remain on hold until less restricted operations resume.  Passes will be extended for the number of days that were remaining at the time JSFC closed on March 16. In appreciation of passholders loyalty, we will add a bonus extension of 1 week for monthly passes, 3 weeks for quarterly passes, and 6 weeks for annual passes. If you prefer, we can also issue a credit for the prorated value remaining on your current pass and you can apply this to the temporary per visit registration fees

How is physical distancing being maintained?

All spaces have been evaluated to determine their occupancy while comfortably maintaining adequate physical distancing. Fitness Center equipment has been rearranged to exceed physical distancing and some equipment has been relocated to the FIT Studio.

Group exercise rooms have floor markings to designate individual spaces and outdoor spaces will be used for some activities and classes. One-way traffic flow patterns have been established to minimize congestion and close contact. We will have plenty of reminders, and your cooperation is needed to help ensure physical distancing for yourself and others.

Are face coverings required?

Per the Governor’s Office and Oregon Health Authority, face coverings are strongly recommended where it is likely that physical distancing of at least six feet cannot be maintained. This could happen as you enter or exit the building as well as in hallways, lobbies or other share spaces.  Staff are required to wear face coverings.

What is being done to ensure cleanliness and sanitation?

Juniper has been deep cleaned and disinfected before reopening and a thorough cleaning will be completed nightly. The facility will be closed for one hour on longer days to complete a mid-day cleaning.  Restrooms will be cleaned at least twice daily and staff will be repeatedly disinfecting high touch points each day. Group Exercise rooms and any equipment used will be disinfected after each class. The Fitness Center will be cleaned between each 80-minute session. Air circulation systems have been re-programmed to circulate 100% outside air during all hours of operations. We also strongly encourage valued patrons to help us by wiping down equipment before and after each use.

Why advance registration?

With advanced registration, we can ensure that we remain within the capacity limitations required by Oregon Health Authority and maintain a safe and healthy environment. This also saves you a space rather than being turned away or waiting in line for an opening. You can register up to seven days in advance for days and times to help make it easy to fit exercise into your schedule or routine.  Registration will remain open up until 15 minutes before the time of the scheduled activity for any available openings.

If I’m unable to register online how can I get help?

Customer service staff will be available by phone at (541) 389-7665 during all operating hours to assist you with the learning the registration system or answering questions. If you can only pay with cash please speak to a customer service staff over the phone for assistance.

If I can’t make it to my class can I transfer it to a different day?

Registration for classes cannot be credited, transferred or refunded. We will make exceptions for medical or health-related reasons. Please call (541) 389-7665 as soon as you know you will be unable to attend a registered session.

Will my class be taught by my favorite instructor?

We are unable to bring back all classes and instructors at one time. In developing our initial schedule of classes, we considered past attendance trends, variety of formats, and facility and instructor availability.  We’re excited to welcome back many classes and employees and look forward expanding as condition and participation allows. In the meantime, this may be a great chance to try a new class or instructor.

How you are conducting health screenings?

While we will not be conducting temperature checks, we will ask all patrons entering the facility to acknowledge that they have not experienced any of the following:

  • Have you had a new or worsening cough?
  • Have you had a fever?
  • Have you had shortness of breath?
  • Have you been in close contact with anyone with these symptoms or anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

If any of these conditions apply, you will need to wait to return to the facility until all symptoms, including fever have been resolved for at least 72 hours without medication, or at least 14 days after contact with a person with a cough, fever or diagnosed with COVID-19. Do your part to ensure the health and safety of you, others and the community and stay home if you are sick or been exposed to someone who is sick.

Are showers available? What locker rooms are available?

Showers will not be available. The south locker rooms will be available for bathroom use and hand washing. The north locker rooms will remain closed, but the north restrooms will be available. Lockers will not be available to store belongings. Lobby seating areas will also be closed. Our expectation is that guests come in ready to work out and depart promptly afterwards.
