The face covering must be worn at all times and in all indoor spaces, except when doing strenuous physical exercise (i.e. swimming, fitness class, weight room use, etc.) or if a medical condition or disability prevents a person from wearing a face covering. Participants and visitors to the outdoor pool and surrounding outdoor spaces are not required to wear a face covering.

Fitness Center

Fitness Center sessions are available in 80-minute increments throughout the day with a 10-minute cleaning/preparation transition time between sessions. Group exercise class schedules are be posted for individual class registration.

If you have registered for another activity, you are welcome to use the Fitness Center before or after your scheduled activity at no additional fee if space is available. The Fitness Center is open during all hours except for a midday cleaning closure from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Use of the Fitness Center is available via drop-in or reservations. A few details to know:

  • Advanced reservation is encouraged to ensure your space at a preferred time; however, drop-in use will be accommodated if space is available.
  • Credit or debit cards are preferred forms of payment for drop-in fee; however, cash will be accepted.

Group Exercise Rooms

All spaces have been evaluated to determine their occupancy while comfortably maintaining adequate physical distancing. Fitness Center equipment has been rearranged to provide adequate spacing. Fitness equipment has been spaced to exceed physical distancing standards with weights  moved to the Fit Studio and Cardio machines have been spaced out and will be rotated in and out of service. Group exercise rooms have floor markings to designate individual spaces. One-way traffic flow patterns have been established to minimize congestion and close contact.

Outdoor Fitness Classes

In addition to modified indoor spaces, three outdoor fitness class areas have been added to the facility to expand offerings while maintaining proper distancing.

New Cleaning Procedures

Above and beyond Juniper’s regular cleaning standards, new cleaning procedures include:

  • Juniper has been deep cleaned and disinfected during the facility closure. A thorough cleaning will be completed nightly.
  • The facility will be closed for one hour on longer days to complete a mid-day cleaning.
  • Restrooms will be cleaned at least twice daily and staff will disinfect high touch points throughout the day.
  • Group Exercise rooms and any equipment used will be disinfected after each class.
  • The Fitness Center will be cleaned between each 80-minute session.
  • Air circulation systems have been re-programmed to circulate 100% outside air during all hours of operations.

When can I reserve/register for family swim?

We’re working on a schedule and reservation process for family swims. More details will follow by early July.

What about my facility pass?

Passes (monthly, quarterly, annual and 10-visit) will not be valid during the initial reopening period due to the need to limit capacity. We also know we cannot provide the full value of passes due to limitations in facilities, hours and classes.

All facility passes remain on hold until less restricted operations resume.  Passes will be extended for the number of days that were remaining at the time JSFC closed on March 16. In appreciation of passholders loyalty, we will add a bonus extension of 1 week for monthly passes, 3 weeks for quarterly passes, and 6 weeks for annual passes. If you prefer, we can also issue a credit for the prorated value remaining on your current pass and you can apply this to the temporary per visit registration fees.

Are locker rooms and showers available?

Locker rooms will not be available at this time except for bathroom use and hand washing. Please come ready to swim with your suit on under your clothes. Also, be prepared to leave without changing clothes. It’s a great time to put the old robes and sweats to good use.  With the showers closed, it is critical that everyone takes a cleansing shower before arriving at the pool.  Showering before entering the pools is the best way of ensuring clean, clear and safe water conditions. There are two outdoor showers located outside the new restroom building located next to the activity pool. These showers will be available for people who were unable to take a cleansing shower before arriving or who need to rinse off after swimming.

How is physical distancing being maintained?

In accordance with state guidelines, lap swimming will be restricted to one person per lane except when two family members may share a lane.  We have set up a queuing system for people waiting for their reserved lap swim lane time to ensure physical distancing.  Water Exercise classes will ensure physical distancing through designated spaces, including buffers between lap swimmers.

Are face coverings required?

As of July 1, all participants and visitors 12 years and older entering Juniper Swim & Fitness Center indoor areas must wear a face covering. All staff are required to wear face coverings.

What is being done to ensure cleanliness and sanitation?

Juniper has been deep cleaned and disinfected before reopening and a thorough cleaning will be completed nightly. Restrooms are cleaned at least twice daily and staff are repeatedly disinfecting high touch points including between lap swim and water exercise groups. Pool chlorine levels will be maintained slightly higher than normal as a precaution and chemical checks will be conducted more frequently.  Juniper has automated chemical controllers and feed systems that measure and adjust chlorine and pH levels on an ongoing basis.

Why advance registration?

With advanced registration, we can ensure that we remain within the capacity limitations required by Oregon Health Authority and maintain a safe and healthy environment.  Current guidelines restrict lap swimming to one person per lane, which would be difficult to do without a reservation system. The advanced registration also saves you a space rather than being turned away or waiting in line for an opening. You can register up to seven days in advance for days and times to help make it easy to fit exercise into your schedule or routine.  Registration will remain open up until 15 minutes before the time of the scheduled activity for any available openings.

*Note: As of June 18, drop-in use of Juniper’s Fitness Center has returned. Weights, fitness machines, treadmills, etc. You can choose to reserve ahead to ensure your spot or arrive at the facility and work out, if space is available. Credit/debit cards preferred for payment, but cash accepted for drop-in too.

If I’m unable to register online how can I get help?

Customer service staff will be available by phone at (541) 389-7665 during all operating hours to assist you with the learning the registration system or answering questions. If you can only pay with cash please speak to a customer service staff over the phone for assistance.

If I can’t make it to my lap swim time or class can I transfer to a different day or get a refund?

Registration for classes cannot be credited, transferred or refunded. We will make exceptions for medical or health-related reasons. Please call (541) 389-7665 as soon as you know you will be unable to attend a registered session.

Will my class be taught by my favorite instructor?

We are unable to bring back all classes and instructors at one time. In developing our initial schedule of classes, we considered past attendance trends, variety of formats, and facility and instructor availability.  We’re excited to welcome back many classes and employees and look forward expanding as condition and participation allows. In the meantime, this may be a great chance to try a new class or instructor.

How you are conducting health screenings?

While we will not be conducting temperature checks, we will ask all patrons entering the facility to acknowledge that they have not experienced any of the following:

  • Have you had a new or worsening cough?
  • Have you had a fever?
  • Have you had shortness of breath?
  • Have you been in close contact with anyone with these symptoms or anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

If any of these conditions apply, you will need to wait to return to the facility until all symptoms, including fever have been resolved for at least 72 hours without medication, or at least 14 days after contact with a person with a cough, fever or diagnosed with COVID-19. Do your part to ensure the health and safety of you, others and the community and stay home if you are sick or been exposed to someone who is sick.

I want to drop in for my workout, rather than make a reservation. Can I do that now?

As of June 18, drop-in use of Juniper’s Fitness Center has returned! Weights, fitness machines, treadmills and more. You can choose to reserve ahead to ensure your spot or arrive at the facility and work out, if space is available. Credit/debit cards preferred for payment, but cash accepted for drop-in too.

And bonus! If you’re attending a reservation fitness class or lap swim session, you can use the Fitness Center and/ or the hot tub before or after if space is available.
