What you need to know before attending:

Benefits: Indoor cycling is a non-impact, cardio workout for everyone – you don’t need to be a cyclist to enjoy these classes. Classes can be easily modified to meet your needs and goals. Want to cycle on your own? You’re welcome to use the bikes when classes are not in session.

The cycling room at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center features 24 Precor Spinner® Chrono Power Bikes. These state-of-the-art bikes tout accuracy and design with best-in-class LED consoles and a laid-back geometry for a comfortable fit.

Get In-Sync with Spinning®

Get connected to Juniper’s new Precor Chrono Spinning® bikes. That’s right, connect your smartphone to your spin bike via bluetooth and download your workout data. Using the free Wahoo Fitness app, you can export your exercise data to MyFitnessPal, Strava, TrainningPeaks, Nike+ and other popular fitness tracking apps.

Baby & Me Cycle/Core
Bring baby and get your workout in while you connect with other parents and guardians. Babies can sit in a car seat, in a stroller, on a blanket or in a bouncy-type seat while you ride. Babies welcome from six weeks to crawling.

Cycle
Offering a wide range of structured cycle workouts from endurance rides and hill climbs to sprints and race pace efforts. You are encouraged to modify your ride to meet your needs and goals.

Cycle 101
Want to try indoor cycling? The instructor will assist you with a detailed bike set up, teach modifications and give you the skills and confidence to make indoor cycling a part of your exercise routine.

Cycle Core
A double whammy! It’s a cycling workout with off-the-bike core training to finish up.

Cycle on Your Own
Non-instructed cycling on your own. Please check in at the South reception desk for personalized assistance.

Cycle/Strength & Core
A combination of cardiovascular training, strength training and core conditioning, both on and off the bike.

Express Cycle
Short on time? This is your class for a comprehensive workout as it’s a regular workout just condensed for time.

Entry, Reservations & Other COVID-19 Related Updates

Facility Changes

Face Coverings
All visitors 5 years and older entering a BPRD facility must wear a face covering. The face coverings must cover the mouth and nose and must be worn at all times in all indoor spaces, including the covered 50-meter, Olympic pool area – except when swimming.

  • Face coverings are required when exercising indoors.
  • If a medical condition or disability prevents a person from wearing a face covering, let our staff know to consider an accommodation.
  • The Oregon Health Authority does not recommend wearing plastic face shields alone. While face shields can be very good at blocking droplets, they are not as good at stopping aerosols that can go around the shield. OHA recommends face shields only be used on a limited basis, for example when talking to someone who is deaf or hard of hearing and needs to read lips to communicate.
  • Clear face shields are strongly recommended for water exercise classes.
  • Please bring your own mask. A limited supply of disposable masks are available if you forget.

Face Covering Non-Compliance and Exclusions

Both your mouth and nose must be covered at all times except during swimming or water exercise (face shields are recommended during water exercise). If there is non-compliance, staff will provide a reminder, a warning and then exclusion for the day without a refund. This is for everyone’s health and safety. Thank you for wearing your face covering properly.

Fitness Center
Fitness Center sessions are available in 80-minute increments throughout the day with a 10-minute cleaning/preparation transition between sessions. Group exercise class schedules are posted for individual registration.
If you have registered for a class/lap swim/workout on your own session, you are welcome to use the Fitness Center before or after your scheduled activity at no additional fee if space is available. The Fitness Center is open during all hours except for a midday cleaning closure from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Use of the Fitness Center is available via drop-in or reservations. A few details to know:

  • Advanced reservation is encouraged to ensure your space at a preferred time; however, drop-in use will be accommodated if space is available.
  • Credit or debit cards are preferred forms of payment for drop-in fee; however, cash will be accepted.

Group Exercise Rooms
All spaces have been evaluated to determine their occupancy while comfortably maintaining adequate physical distancing. Fitness Center equipment has been rearranged to provide adequate spacing. Fitness equipment has been spaced to exceed physical distancing standards with weights moved to the Fit Studio and cardio machines have been spaced out and will be rotated in and out of service. Group exercise rooms have floor markings to designate individual spaces. One-way traffic flow patterns have been established to minimize congestion and close contact.

Class Etiquette

In addition to etiquette guidelines, COVID-19 health guidelines and regulations apply.

In group exercise, like all social settings, common courtesy calls for sensitivity to others. Please follow these etiquette guidelines when participating in group exercise classes.

  • Enter on time or a bit early. The warm up is a key component of class and we don’t want you to miss out on it!
  • Avoid wearing heavy scents and perfumes.
  • Shower and launder clothing before class.
  • No chewing gum.
  • Place cell phones and beepers in the off position.
  • Avoid smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol before class.
  • Keep class conversation to a minimum – this demonstration of respect to your instructor and fellow classmates provides an opportunity for all to hear the instructor’s direction and flow through the workout.
  • Be courteous to your fellow classmates.
  • Be ready to adjust your space for others.
  • Be sure that your, um, private parts are appropriately covered.

Check with your physician before beginning any exercise program. If you have any medical considerations (recent surgeries, knee, neck or back problems, etc.), be sure to inform your teacher beforehand. Please note that instructors may use both physical assists as well as verbal cues to help students attain proper form, alignment and position. Please notify the instructor before class begins if you do not want to be touched. You are encouraged to bring and drink water throughout your workout. Thank you for attending and enjoy your workout!
