Class Title: Outreach Coordinator

Hourly: $33.29 - $44.94 | Monthly: $5,769.44 - $7,788.76 | Annually: $69,233.24 - $93,465.08Benefits: Full-time
OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for developing, organizing and supporting community outreach initiatives, activities and programs for the district.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of a manager. Follows standard processes and procedures without supervision but confirms changes to standard practices and significant decisions in advance.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Exercises supervision over part-time staff and volunteers; hire, train, manage and evaluate performance, develop goals, discipline, respond to grievances, and terminate.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
The information provided below encompasses the typical duties and capabilities linked with this classification. Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Plans and conducts direct outreach efforts to underserved populations in order to increase awareness of district services, build trust and facilitate access to and participation in programs.
- Develops, coordinates and supervises recreation programs that are designed specifically to meet the needs of underserved populations.
- Works closely with district recreation staff to identify and remove barriers to participation and provide outreach support.
- Works closely with other agencies, organizations and community groups to inform them of district programs and services and to identify and coordinate opportunities for shared outreach efforts.
- Serve as district representative on committees and liaison with formal and informal community outreach partners.
- Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates part-time staff including, recreation leaders and outreach support staff.
- Works closely with district communication team to develop and distribute communication and marketing information to support outreach goals and efforts.
- Assists with the development and implementation of a comprehensive outreach plan to support district outreach goals. Supports specific district initiatives as identified in strategic plan through targeted outreach.
- Assists with budget preparation; monitors budget and makes adjustments to remain within budget.
- Purchases and manages outreach and program supplies and equipment; reviews and processes invoices and accounts receivable.
- Acts as a Mandatory Reporter; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are minimum qualifications for this classification.
Education, Experience, and Training:
- Associate’s Degree AND
- Three (3) years of progressive work experience planning and leading community outreach ; AND
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred;
- One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred, OR
- Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training.
License:
Possession of, or ability to obtain valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history as defined by district driving policy.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The following are working conditions, including environmental and physical demands required for this classification.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment and requires the ability to work and maintain in a work environment with moderate noise (i.e., working around others making periodic phone calls or having conversation) and with frequent interruptions.
- Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods of time, move about the office occasionally.
- Requires occasional work outdoors in varied weather conditions, including exposure to inclement weather and walking over uneven terrain such as parks and trails or at a variety of program sites.
- Must be able to travel to locations in, around, or outside the greater Bend area.
- The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
- Ability to maintain sustained concentration on computer screens; use keyboards and a variety of peripherals.
- Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, while operating computer keyboards, telephone, and standard office equipment.
- Physical exertion includes walking, standing, sitting, bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted, pushing, and pulling to deliver supplies and set-up and tear-down activities.
- Ability to work some evening, weekend and holiday hours.
