PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: For all BPRD parks and trails

Oregonians are strongly encouraged to stay home, save lives. Do not gather in parks or on trails.
Temporary use rules:

  • Playgrounds, exercise equipment and basketball and volleyball courts remain closed.
  • Skateparks and pickleball, tennis, horseshoes and bocce ball courts are now open.
  • Walking, running, biking, skating or using a wheelchair or other mobility device while maintaining at least six feet between people is allowed.
  • Stay six feet from others.
  • Visit less popular parks and trails and/or at less popular times.
  • Go solo or only with members of your household. No groups.
  • Off-leash dog areas, picnic shelters and restrooms remain open.
  • On trails, offer a wide-berth when passing.
  • Wash hands before and after any visit to a park or trail.
  • Bring your own water. Drinking fountains are not available.
  • Keep dogs on leash. It's the law in Bend.
  • Follow local and national health guidance.
  • If you're sick, stay home.

One of Bend’s oldest parks, Pioneer Park hosts many picnics and weddings during the spring, summer and fall. This riverfront park features a covered group picnic area, a formal rose garden, open lawn areas and riverfront woods.

A path along the river is a section of the Deschutes River Trail connecting downstream to First Street Rapids Park and the new pedestrian footbridge across the river. Limited off-street parking is available.

This location is an ideal location close to Deschutes River for small to medium size gatherings and adjacent to Deschutes River and trails. Shelter is located near the intersection of Portland Avenue and Wall Street and close to downtown Bend.

The Deschutes River is home to many species of native fish and some of the most idyllic fishing spots reside in Bend parks. In addition to river fishing, the District also features fishing ponds at Pine Nursery and Shevlin Parks that are stocked by Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Shevlin Pond is open to youth 17 years and under. Learn more.

Licenses: All state angling licenses and regulations apply at all locations. Fishing is open to youth, 17 years and under, and anglers with disabilities. Youth aged 12 to 17 must have a juvenile fishing license. Limit of two fish per day, eight inch minimum length.

Bait: Whether bait and/or fly fishing is allowed depends on location. Please check ODFW’s website for more information as regulations may change.

2020 dates to be announced.  Park & Float, Simpson Ave. and Bradbury Way, across from The Pavilion at 1000 SW Bradbury Way, is currently closed.
