Discovery West
BPRD and Brooks Resources Corporation are working together to add around 35 acres of open space and a three-acre neighborhood park to the planned Discovery West subdivision, which is to the west of Discovery Park.
The project includes a paved, multi-use trail connection between Discovery Park and Shevlin Park called the Outback Trail, as well as other trail connections to the new Discovery West neighborhood. New park areas will become open in phases as Brooks Resources develops residential properties.
In April 2025, in partnership with Brooks Resources, a public labyrinth art installation was completed along the Outback Trail. The labyrinth is the product of a unique collaboration between two talented designers, Lea Goode-Harris and Marilyn Larson of Creative Labyrinths. Prior to that in 2020, a mural by local artist Douglas Robertson was completed in the Skyline Ranch Road underpass, honoring women explorers, pioneers, and others who have made important contributions to society. The underpass serves as a gateway to Discovery West from Discovery Park.
